O-SHOT®IN NJ: FAQS
What is O-Shot®?

The O-Shot® in New Jersey, short for Orgasm Shot, is a painless, non-surgical, simple and safe procedure that can improve sexual function and treat urinary (stress and urge) incontinence. The procedure introduces Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), obtained using an FDA-approved system, through a painless injection into the clitoris and the upper vaginal wall, which are first numbed completely using a topical and local medical-grade local anesthetic. The O-Shot stimulates increased blood flow, strengthens tissue, enhances sexual sensitivity and reduces dyspareunia (painful sex). By rejuvenating aging or deteriorating vaginal muscle and tissue, patients’ bladder control improves, leading to significantly reduced or, in some cases, eliminated urinary incontinence.

Current evidence shows that 20% of the 20-year-old women and more than 50% of those 50 and above have stress urinary incontinence causing involuntary urinary leak with cough, sneezing, jumping and simply without any other activity. This can be embarrassing and produce undesirable odor when someone goes closer to the person.

Don’t confuse the O-Shot with the G-Shot, a treatment that attempts to enlarge the “G-Spot” in the vagina (erectile tissue) using an engineered dermal filler, which is largely unsuccessful and fraught with complications

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP, obtained through a painless blood draw, is a concentrated source of platelets, growth factors and cytokines found naturally in your own body, and stimulates and controls healthy regenerative processes, including collagen and soft tissue remodeling, and improves overall health and rejuvenation. PRP has been used successfully for years in surgical, orthopedic and non-surgical procedures to promote improved healing times and optimal results from various procedures. Our body produces new platelets regularly since an average lifespan of circulating platelets in 8-9 days. They are produced in the bone marrow from precursors called megakaryocytes. Since only a small amount blood is drawn to obtain PRP, and since our bone marrow produces them regularly, this procedure will not affect your platelet count or bodily function.

How does the O-Shot®in NJ work?
Sexual Dysfunction

For decades, most scientific research and pharmaceutical development for sexual dysfunction has been geared toward treating erectile dysfunction in men. The O-Shot in NJ is a revolutionary new treatment specifically designed to help women increase sexual satisfaction and improve the Orgasm System by addressing age-related deterioration of vaginal muscle and soft tissue.

In females specifically, there are myriad factors and functions that must work together fluidly to achieve orgasm – so much so that many in the medical community describe this phenomenon as a physiological system, just like the gastrointestinal, respiratory or cardiovascular system. Like other biological systems, age and exposure ultimately results in deterioration and an overall decrease in function. By injecting concentrated PRP, which contains the body’s natural healing elements, doctors are able to successfully rejuvenate this damaged tissue and restore function to youthful levels.

Urinary Incontinence

If you’re suffering from urinary incontinence, you shouldn’t feel guilty – this condition is very common and caused by a weakening of the muscular tissue which controls the retention and flow of urine. The female anatomy has only just recently been fully understood, which is why prior treatments (Kegel exercises and bladder surgery) for urinary incontinence have been ineffective. Unlike men, women do not have a complete muscular urethral sphincter (the “on/off valve”), and therefore can’t fully control their urine flow. The O-Shot in New Jersey at Anara Medspa by Dr Chandra, is designed to strengthen this tissue to its fullest potential.

What can the O-Shot do for you?

Although each woman’s experience may differ in some ways, most patients report:

  • Younger, smoother skin of the vulva
  • Greater arousal from clitoral stimulation
  • Stronger and more frequent orgasms
  • A tighter introitus (vaginal opening)
  • Increased sexual desire
  • Increased natural lubrication
  • Decreased pain for those with dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
  • Decreased or resolved urinary incontinence (both urge and stress problems)
  • Improvement in Lichen Sclerosus
  • Improvement in Interstitial Cystitis (painful distressing chronic bladder condition, often considered “incurable”) has also been reported by some physicians. The mechanism of how O-shot improves this painful condition is not known. Since O-Shot is such a safe procedure, it’s worth trying this for this condition.
Why should I come to Anara Medspa for the O-Shot?

Dr. Chandra is a member of the American Cosmetic Cellular Medicine Association, and has been personally trained by the inventor of the O-Shot, Dr. Charles Runels, M.D., and fully understands the science which drives the amazing results of this treatment. In New Jersey, only a licensed physician who has been certified in this treatment is legally allowed to provide it to his or her patients.

Dr. Chandra is also well-versed in administering nerve-blocks and anesthetics via injection, which allows him to make this procedure virtually painless. During your comprehensive evaluation, Dr. Chandra will evaluate your medical and sexual history to identify the root cause(s) of your issue and develop a customized treatment that is right for you. Sometimes he might ask you to get evaluation from your Gynecologist to rule out other causes.

Does the O-Shot hurt?

Many patients are surprised to discover that the O-Shot does not hurt, with little to no discomfort afterwards. It is possible you may feel a slight pinch or warm sensation, which only lasts a couple of minutes. After treatment, you can immediately resume normal physical and sexual activity.

When will I see results from the O-Shot?

In certain cases, women will see an immediate (often within a couple of days)improvement in urinary incontinence and increase in sexual function, desire and overall pleasure. The results for both sexual function and urinary incontinence typically peak within 3 – 6 months and last an average of 12 to 18 months. Some patients may need a second treatment within 6 to 12 months after their initial treatment.

Is the O-Shot safe?

Absolutely! The O-Shot in NJ is a safe and effective procedure when performed at Anara Medspa by Dr. Chandra. It is a patented and trademarked procedure that can only be offered at a practice that has been educated, trained and certified by Dr. Runels, the creator of the Vampire procedures. PRP specifically has been described in more than 20,000 published studies as a safe and effective treatment with no reported inherent complications.

Is the O-Shot covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, the O-Shot is an elective procedure and is not covered by insurance.
